Makaru sees the coldest and wettest time of the year come into full swing. During the new weather in Bunuru, our farm hosts giant and noisy flocks of whitetail Carnaby and Baudin black cockatoos, in addition to smaller household groups of redtail black forest cockatoos. These massive birds go to our farm several instances a day to drink from our farm troughs. Our troughs also provide much needed water not just for our sheep and horses, but also emus, kangaroos, an enormous variety of birds and reptiles.
